Public Works Machine Operator/Labourer
The Township of Howick is currently seeking a full time Public Works Machine Operator/Labourer. The current pay range is $23.96/hr to $29.95/hr.

• Valid ‘D-Z’ driver’s license
• Ability to safely operate and maintain machinery/equipment/vehicles
• Experience in operation of a motor grader would be considered an asset

Public Works Department Summer Youth Position
The Township of Howick requires a full-time student employee (under the Canada Summer Jobs Youth Program and must be returning to school in the fall). Duties to include landfill clean up, assisting staff on general construction and maintenance activities and assisting the Building Department. This position will be approx. 35 hours per week at $15.00 per hour, Monday to Thursday.
Valid driver’s licence and safety shoes are required; computer skills and legible handwriting an asset.

Part Time Chief Building Official/Inspector

The Township of Howick is currently seeking a Part Time Chief Building Official/Inspector with the necessary resources and knowledge to carry out the provincially mandated enforcement of the Ontario Building Code Act. This is an hourly position reporting directly to Council. The current pay range is approximately $40.32/hr to $50.39/hr and approximately 1200 hr/year.

Part Time Landfill Site Attendant

The Township of Howick is currently seeking an enthusiastic, team-oriented part time Landfill Site Attendant. This is a hourly position under the supervision of the Landfill Site Foreman. The normal hours of work are Wednesdays 9 am till 4 pm. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Landfill Site Foreman in the day to day operations of the Howick landfill site.
As a Landfill Site Attendant, you will:

• Direct patrons to the appropriate stations at the site and ensure that only appropriate items are placed in their designated areas (e.g.) only scrap steel placed in the scrap steel pile
• Ensure that only residents of Howick Township use the site
• Be responsible to open and close the site at appropriate hours for access by the public
• Observe all health and safety practices in accordance with established policies and procedures
• Deal courteously and tactfully with the public
• Perform other related duties as directed by the Landfill Site Foreman or the Operations Manager

The ideal candidate will possess:
• Strong customer service skills
• CPR, First Aid, WHMIS, propane handling
• Knowledge of landfill operations
• Ability to communicate effectively with the public is an asset
