Budget & Finance
The Treasury department is responsible for managing the collection of property taxes and other revenues, coordinating both current and capital budget estimates, preparing financial statements, maintaining accounting records, processing payments to suppliers, providing payroll services, and conducting audits.
Audited Financial Statements
A copy of the audited financial statements, the notes to the financial statement, the auditor's report and tax rate information will be made available at no cost to any taxpayer or resident of the municipality upon request. Previous year's financial statements are also available upon request.
Budget
The Township of Howick Council adopts a budget for operating and capital expenditures annually. The budget process starts early in the year and is ready for adoption in the spring. All budget meetings are open to the public and advertised on our website
Financial Information Returns (FIR)
The current year and any previous year FIRs can be found on the Ministry’s website. There you will find all of the FIRs for all Ontario Municipalities.

Charges
If an individual or lawyer wishes to obtain a Tax Certificate or Zoning Certificate in order to determine if there are any outstanding property taxes, zoning or building compliance at the time of closing a real estate transaction, they must submit a request in writing and pay the applicable fee.
Please Note: Tile Drain Loan information, if any, will be provided with the Tax Certificate
The Township of Howick has passed By-law 13-2015, Schedule “A” which revises the costs for tax and zoning certificates as follows:
- Tax Certificate: $55.00 per property. [Payment Received]
- Building/Zoning Certificate: $80.00 per property. [Payment Received]
- Tax Certificate: $75.00 per property. [Rush-same day or next day-faxed or emailed with a copy of the cheque to 519-335-6208
- Drainage certificate $50.00 per property (payment received)
