Property Standards vs. Clean Yards
The Property Standards By-law and Clean Yards By-law set out the minimum standards for building maintenance and property maintenance within the Township. The standards described in these by-laws are intended to outline the reasonable maintenance and upkeep of yards, buildings and properties.

Property Standards
Some examples of standards covered by the Property Standards By-law include:
- Structural adequacy
- Masonry, siding, and roofing
- Heating and heating systems
- Electrical and plumbing services
- Fire safety and egress
- Rental standards
- Pest prevention
- Vacant lands and buildings
Clean Yards
Some examples of standards covered by the Clean Yards By-law include:
- Long grass, weeds and ground cover
- Landscaping and tree trimming
- Hazardous yard conditions
- Littering
- Graffiti
- Standing water
- Sewage and drainage
Reporting a deficiency
Residents who are renting and are experiencing a problem, should inform the landlord/superintendent and/or property owner of any deficiencies, maintenance and repair issues. Although written correspondence is preferred, notification by phone is acceptable. Please keep a copy of all correspondence for your records.
You must provide a reasonable timeframe for the deficiencies to be resolved. If they are not addressed, you can report a deficiency by completing the form below.
